Dr Jayshree Vencatesan, belonging to the temple-town of Tirupati, was part of the core team that drafted the Government of Indias First National Report on the implementation of the convention on Biological Diversity in India (1997) and the National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan (Western Ghats) in 2001. She also represented India at the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity at Montreal in 2003. Currently, she is an adviser to the Government of Tamil Nadu on the conservation of urban biodiversity and is also a co-founder of Care Earth.
