Only Ever Theirs opens in the middle of winter, 1913. We wade into an impending winter storm through the eyes of Eira by way of her diary entries. Like other residents of the small harbor village, Eira awaits the surge of incoming ships racing to port before the storm turns Lake Superior into a frozen hellscape. On one lumber ship, cruising in from Canada’s Thunder Bay, Finn, Eira’s heart and soul. Unfortunately as the frozen nor’easter crashes into the peninsula, the town faces dangers much worse, and more far sweeping, than the snow alone. Eira takes us from one side of the storm to the other on her mission to not only find her love, but save her town from the greed and ego washing up on their shores. Falling snow hangs like stage curtains across the small town, hiding the truth under decomposing beams of a haunted theater. It is up to Eira to decide if she’ll become the hero while she searches for hers.
