Based on thirty years of observation, the author demonstrates that wolves provide a closer model of human behavior than primates within such areas as stress-related disorders, aggression, and anger Wolf aficionados may enjoy this book in which Lawrence, a well-known Canadian conservationist and writer, describes his love affair with wolves and details his many adventures with them. Others will find the book wordy, overly anecdotal, rambling, and tedious. Libraries that own L. David Mech's classic The Wolf ( LJ 6/1/70) and Durward L. Allen's Wolves of Minong ( LJ 4/15/79) do not really need this one. Nichoals J. Volkman, Point Reyes Bird Observatory, Stinson Beach, Cal. Copyright 1986 Reed Business Information, Inc.
