Wonderful, wild Wyoming. This is a sentence to describe on of the most majestic of the United States. Wyoming became a state in 1890, becoming the nation's 44th state. Wyoming covers an area of over 97,000 square miles. It is a beautiful state, featuring mountains, plains, plateaus, and an abundance of wildlife. For a state the size of Wyoming, is it unusual that there is only one four year college. This is the University of Wyoming in Laramie. There are an additional seven 2 year colleges located throughout the rest of the state.Cheyenne is the state capital and has the states' largest population at around 60,000 people within the city limits. Wyoming's population is steadily increasing at a rate of 14% in the last eleven years.

Much of the land of Wyoming is owned by the United States Government. This land includes several parks, as well as well as F.E. Warren Air Force Base, near Cheyenne, Wyoming. Wyoming is known mainly for its parks and recreation areas. Wyoming boasts possibly the most famous national park of all- Yellowstone National Park, known for Old Faithful. Yellowstone National Park was the first National Park designated in the United States. In addition to Yellowstone, Wyoming is home to Grand Teton National Park, Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area, Bighorn Canyon National Recreation area, and the well known Devil's Tower National Monument. Devil's Tower is a highly sacred area to Indians.

The state of Wyoming offers many activities in all seasons. Due to the diversity of the landscape, visitors can ski, ride horses, river raft, hike, fish, or even visit a Dude Ranch! No matter the age or activity level, there is something for everyone to do in Wyoming. One popular activity to do in Wyoming is visit a rodeo. This state is well known for the rodeos and cowboys. There are rodeos found in almost every town throughout the state. However, one rodeo in particular stands out from the rest. This is the Lander Pioneer Days Rodeo. This takes place July 2nd through July 4th and hosts a parade for the 4th of July. Wyoming is well known for its diverse wildlife as well. It is home to 600 different species of wildlife. There is a foundation set up to help protect all the diverse animals.Wyoming is fortunately to have maintained much of its natural beauty and remain mostly untouched by development.
