San Antonio is the seventh largest city in America. The city was named for San Antonio de Padua. San Antonio also has a strong military presence. It is home to Fort Sam Houston, Lackland Air Force Base, Randolph Air Force Base, and Brooks City Base.

According to the 2000 United States Census there were 405,474 households, and 280,993. The population density is 2,808.5 people per square mile. The median income for a household in the city was $36,214. The median income for a family is $53,100. The per capita income for the city is $17,487.

San Antonio is a very popular tourist destination. The area includes places like River Walk, Arneson River Theater, The Alamo, the Cathedral of San Fernando, The Majestic Theatre, HemisFair Park, La Villita, El Mercado, the Spanish Governor’s Palace, and the very historic Menger Hotel.

San Antonio has a diverse economy. There are four primary economic focuses: financial services, government, health care, and tourism.
