Louisiana, better known as the Creole state, is home to the New Orleans Saints, the Louisiana Superdome, Cajuns, jambalaya, crawfish pie, and file gumbo. Louisiana was named after Louis XIV, King of France. This state is rich in culture, uniquely combining its diverse range of people results in a bowl of good old mixed creolization. Baton Rouge, Louisiana is the home of the state capital that was completed in 1932. It was the push of Huey P. Long that enabled the building's construction to be completed within twenty-nine months. Long was assassinated in the Capitol Building and died in 1935. He was buried on the State Capitol's ground in the middle of the public Capitol Garden. Louisiana has had fifty-five governors including current governor, Bobby Jindal.

There are sixty-four parishes in the state of Louisiana, with the oldest settlement in Natchitoches, LA. Louisiana is one of the nation's largest producers of cotton, sugar cane, rice, sweet potatoes, and pecans. The population is 4,533,372. The state population by race includes 62.5% -Caucasian, 32.0%- Black/African American, 0.7%-Indians, Asian-1.5%, and 4.2%-Hispanic or Latino.Many people come to visit Louisiana because of its tourist attractions including old plantation homes, arts and crafts, authentic cuisines, and above all to try their luck at winning big at one of the many casinos that are located throughout Louisiana.

Tulane University, the Green Wave is also in New Orleans, Louisiana.Other well known universities include Northwestern State University, home of the Demons is in Natchitoches, Louisiana. Louisiana Tech University, the Louisiana Bulldogs is located in Ruston, Louisiana.
