Watsonville is a city that is located in Santa Cruz County in California. The city was named after John H. Watson who worked with D.S. Gregory in laying out the town in 1852.

According to the 2000 Census there were 44,265 people, 11,381 households, and 8,865 families living in Watsonville. The city’s population density was 6,969.4 people per square mile. The median family income was $40,293 and $37,617 for a household. Watsonville’s income per capita was $13,205.

Watsonville is racially made up of 43% White, .7% African American, 1.7% Native American, 3.2% Asian, and 75% Hispanic residents. Out of Watsonville’s 11,381 households 49.2% had children under the age of 18 years of age living at home and 56.3% were married couples living together.

Watsonville has a climate that experienced warm summers and mildly cool winters. In the summer Watsonville is normally in the 70s during the day and at night the temperature will drop into the 50s or 60s. In the winter the city is generally in the 50s during the day and at night the temperature will drop into the 40s or 30s. The hottest month of the year in Watsonville is September and the coldest month is December.
