Located 18 miles from the Pacific Ocean, the city of Santee is a suburb of San Diego County, Califronia with a reported population of 53,413 at the 2010 US Census.
With something for everyone Santee offers many recreational attractions with include but are not limited to the Sportsplex USA Santee, a 15 acre sports field complex. The complex is located within the Town Center Community Park and features three lighted softball fields, four batting cages, two well lit arena soccer fields, with spectator seating and parking. Also included in the complex is a sports themed restaurant that offers food, beer and wine. The city of Santee is a popular spot for mountain bikers and hosts the popular Southern Cali rock climbing venue called the Santee Boulders. If that's not enough there is also the Santee Lakes Regional Park and Campground that offers over 190 acres of land for fishing, camping, bird watching as well as picnic areas for that mid afternoon break. Golfing is a landmark in the city, the Carlton Oaks Golf Course opening in 1958 is a resort that offers premier golfing experience. The course was designed by the legendary golfer Pete Dye who made the World Golf Hall of Fame. The city's Community Services Department offers a 10 week series of free concerts that are admission free. Also offering the Santee Wine & Bluegrass festival as well as host for fundraisers geared toward local parks and youth recreation programs, these fundraisers are held annually during the fall at the Town Center Community Park.
