There are over 300 sunny days and a daily high of 73 degrees on average every year. The city of San Jose does not lie on the front of the Pacific Ocean instead it is surrounded by three sides of mountains, causing more shelter from rain giving it a semiarid feel with an annual rainfall of 14.4 inches which is a big difference from other surrounding cities such as San Francisco and other Bay Area cities that get about three times that amount. The average temperature in January has high of 60 degrees and a low of 42 degrees, July has an average high of 84 degrees and an average low of 57 degrees. 112 degrees was the highest temperature ever recorded between the days of July 19th and July 23rd 2006. The lowest temperature ever recorded was 20 degrees in December of 1990. The city's climate temperature fluctuations between day and night vary as little as 10 to 12 degrees, which makes the climate steady without experiencing huge temperature drops or rises like some other parts of California. Rain usually falls in the months from November through April or May.
