Pico Rivera is a city located in southeastern Los Angeles County, California. The city is approximately 11 miles southeast of downtown Los Angeles. Pico Rivera was founded in 1958. It was named for Pio Pico, the last Mexican governor of California.
 
According to the 2000 United States Census, there were 63,428 people, 16,468 households, and 13,866 families living in the city. The population density was 7,645.7 people per square mile. The median income for a household in the city was $41,564. The median income for a family in the city was $45,422. The per capita income for the city was $13,011.
